The schools vision had been adapted to ensure that “it guided curriculum, assemblies, professional development and school culture.” The school ensured that students knew the vision through bi-monthly assemblies in which administration recognized students who exhibited behaviors supporting their five core value (respect, kindness, responsibility, and a commitment to being a lifelong learner). To support the vision, classroom teachers used the Responsive Classroom curriculum addressing social-emotional needs and implemented the Balanced Approach to Literacy to support their students with literacy. In addition, to support the vision, the school employed a counselor, a literacy coach, a library technician, the Playworks, and had partnerships with EBAYC and Asian Mental Health to further support their students and families.
