Advisors played a strong role in keeping parents informed of students’ academic as well as social-emotional progress in multiple forms, including: phone calls when students were late, absent, or did not complete assignments, exhibitions and conferences to set goals and discuss progress/plan to achieve personal goals as well as to discuss internships and family nights using Jupiter Grades, (an online grade book tool) and Student Information System (SIS). These tools added a more traditional report card to the advisor narrative, and included a clear breakdown of assignments contributing towards each course grade, a letter grade, and associated credits earned on progress reports.
