Many practices ensure that students were mindful of college and careers beginning in 9th grade and all throughout high school:
- Internships allowed students to connect with practitioners from the community.
- Students research education required for internship positions
- Students learn to fill out applications, call for appointments, interview for positions.
- The school partnered with East Bay Consortium to provide students with postsecondary counseling and support services.
- All students took the PSAT in the 10th and 11th grades and were guided through the SAT registration process in spring of 11th grade and fall of 12th grade.
- All students were taught to read their transcripts and received instruction about graduation as well as A-G requirements beginning in the 9th grade. In the 10-11th grade years.
- Students reviewed their progress towards graduation with an advisor at least three times a year.
- Students began meeting with a college counselor in the beginning of their 11th grade year and composed a list of colleges that they were interested in and eligible to apply to.
- In spring of the 12th grade, students were taught college budgeting strategies and were required to attend a Cash for College financial aid night that further explained the financial aid process.
